learn to row
get a taste of the fun that is rowing!

Our June Learn to row is full! you can join the waitlist below in case we have any last minute cancelations!

Don’t worry, we will have another one at late August/start of school timeframe

Our learn-to-row days are a great chance to try out the sport in a relaxed and fun environment!

These are not the same as our try-outs at the beginning of the seasons. If you are looking to register for a season please see our Registration, Season, and Dues Information above.

Come try the ultimate team sport where hard work is rewarded, you don’t need any experience, and in a few short years you can be competing on a national level. Be sure to check out our FAQ’s page for more information about the sport and our seasons. All the information and sign-up is below.

We are looking for two kinds of athletes:

Rowers -Girls over 120 lbs, boys over 135 lbs – The ideal rower is tall with strong legs and big lungs – basically “lungs on legs”.  Even if this doesn’t sound like you today, it could be in the future!  Rowing is a power/endurance sport, characteristics that can be achieved with discipline, determination, and a desire to work.  And while hard work won’t make you taller, we have had shorter rowers succeed on the back of sheer determination.

Coxswains – Boys and Girls under 120 lbs – Coxswains play a vital role in rowing.  The ideal coxswain is loud and confident with strong organization skills and the ability to multi-task. These skills come naturally to some while others can achieve them with a desire to learn and improve.  This is a great LEADERSHIP opportunity for athletes who may not be big enough to play another sport.

Our Learn-to-Row clinics, coached by the Unionville Crew staff and current athletes are a great way to learn all about rowing and discover if the sport is right for you. We will teach you the basic rowing stroke on the ergometer (erg, rowing machine) and in a boat on the water. Both boys and girls are welcome.
